It's a common occurrance that cyclists are pack animals. Enjoy the group commaraderie, but don't get sucked into the group mentality of going hard all the time...with king of the mountain and sprint contests or who can do the longest & fastest turn!
If you can't control the urge to go easy when you need to, then ride alone!
